    • Casper var blant anna styrmann på dampbåten DS "Statsraad Riddervold" som gikk i fast rute fra Kristiansund og innover fjordene på Nordmøre. Blant anna til Nordvik og Todalen der dei overnatta til neste dag før dei gikk til Kristiansund dagen etter. Dette førte til at han vart godt kjent med blant andre Kristoffer Nordvik i Nistua som var dampskipsekpeditør og poståpner.
