- Hannah Walseth was born July 23, 1919. She grew up in Ihlen, MN and graduated from Pipestone High School with the Class of 1937. She attended St. Olaf College for 1 year then attended the University of MN, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She entered the Army Nurses Corp on Jan. 5, 1943. During WWII she was stationed on the U.S. hospital ship "Shamrock" off the Coast of Italy. She served in this role for 34 months and earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Following her military career she received a public health nursing degree and worked as a school nurse in Pipestone before taking administrative nursing positions in Minneapolis and Harlan, KY. She later returned to the University of Minnesota and taught nursing. In 1966 she earned her Doctorate in Child Psychology. She then worked as a counselor for the Robbinsdale School District until her retirement in 1985.
